Erkala on ahkerassa käytössä ympäri vuoden. Talvella ongelmana on kuitenkin lämmitysjärjestelmän puutteellisuus ja talon huono lämmöneristys. Erkalaa hallinnoi Pohjois-Parkanon nuorisoseura, mutta käyttäjiä ovat niin alueen kyläseura kuin koululaisetkin. Talolle suunnitellaan mm. uutta keittiötä, lämmitysjärjestelmän vaihtoa sekä jätevesijärjestelmän uusimista.

Erkalassa on mahdollista järjestää erilaisia tilaisuuksia kesäkaudella. Talvella talo on myös käytössä, mutta tilaisuuden pituus on rajallinen, koska lämmitysjärjestelmä ei tällä hetkellä pysty pitämään taloa lämpöisenä pakkassäällä kuin muutaman tunnin.
